Chamonix in the Valley

Tour du Mont Blanc hike day 5, our final day, we descend from Trient into the valley where Chamonix is nestled beside Mont Blanc. Our views are breathtaking and stunning. Rolling green hills, jagged mountains shaped by years of earthquakes, snow caps and glaciers abound. 

This photo was taken 6.5 miles into our 16.5-mile hike for the day. We had just summited the highest peak of the day at a refuge where we stopped for a cappuccino and to take in the wonderous landscape. The most difficult part of the day was done, over 3,000ft of elevation gain in a 2-mile span. Ahead of us was the charming town of Chamonix to bring our amazing trip to a close.
